Education Programme

PHASE Nepal believes that education is one of the most important ways of empowering, individuals and communities and increasing choice and life opportunities for both children and adults. Our primary objective is to improve the quality and accessibility of education for everyone, with a particular emphasis on adolescent girls, illiterate women, and adults in our project areas.

By investing in education, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and empower communities to shape their futures. Our educational initiatives are closely aligned with Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, and 5, which focus on health and well-being, quality education, and gender equality. Education is a powerful tool for social change, and we are committed to creating inclusive environments where every learner can thrive.

PHASE Nepal also supports adult literacy classes for women in remote communities that were unable to access school as children, giving them the functional literacy and numeracy skills they need (such as how to read medicine packets). In response to the educational challenges faced by children, PHASE Nepal initiated alternative education programs and supported the re-enrollment of out-of-school children. These initiatives were highly effective; many students who began in alternative classes have since pursued higher education.

In particular, girls face additional barriers such as early marriage, household responsibilities, and social norms that make their education less of a priority. To address these issues, PHASE Nepal started the Girls’ Empowerment Program in 2016. This program raises awareness and helps build confidence among girls and their families, leading to many positive changes.
