Livelihoods Improvement is one of the important components of PHASE integrated community development project. With the support from different donors PHASE has been improving the livelihoods of many thousands of people of its project areas in the last decade. The foremost goal of PHASE’s livelihood programme is to ensure food security and proper nutrition for the target beneficiary families via improved vegetable farming programme, poultry, and goat rearing. These are in alignment with SDG goal 2030 Goal No. 1 and 2.
Wherever possible and feasible, PHASE provides vocational skills such as carpentry and tailoring to aspiring individuals of project villages in addition to the support provided in agriculture sector. Talking about agriculture, vegetable produced in the home garden of the participants is providing year-round supply of nutrition for the family. The surplus of the product is also finding the local market. A snapshot of PHASE’s support in livelihood sector in more than 25 communities of Humla, Mugu, Bajura, Sindhupalchok and Gorkha in fiscal year 2017-18 is presented below.
